Hi, I’m Eliza Abdu-Glass (she/her), MSW, LICSW
About Me
After graduating from the Boston College School of Social Work, I worked at McLean Hospital for over four years. I started at McLean Hospital working on an inpatient psychiatric unit to help individuals experiencing severe mental health symptoms. As part of the inpatient clinical team, I provided mental health support to individuals, collaborated with family members, and provided aftercare planning to ensure access to ongoing mental health support after discharge from the hospital. I also worked in McLean Hospital Behavioral Health Partial Hospitalization Program, an outpatient day program, where my role included mental health support, aftercare planning and collaboration with family and other outpatient supports. After leaving McLean Hospital, I moved to Dana Farber Cancer Institute where I continue to work with individuals on an outpatient basis. I also have professional experience working in a residential eating disorder clinic and in mental health public education.
I started Whole Person Wellness in 2022 while working at McLean Hospital as a way to use my clinical experience for longer term work to help clients build their dream life. Whether you are looking to address mental health symptoms, deepen your self insight, create new habits, or something else, your goals and input will guide our work together as a team.
Why work with me?
My approach to therapy prioritizes building a warm, open, and trusting relationship with clients. Together, we will work toward your goals, personal growth and any changes you seek. Based on your goals, I integrate a variety of evidenced-based practices, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), relational therapy and psychodynamic theory. We will highlight your unique strengths as an individual and build new skills and strategies to help you build the best and most content version of yourself.
I am passionate about helping people and achieve their goals while learning more about themselves and their emotional world as they navigate through life. I am energetic, a creative problem solver, and most of all, passionate about this work.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative effort, led by your direction and agenda. By working together as a team, therapy can aid in building insight into patterns (and change patterns if they no longer serve you), learn and practice skills to better regulate emotions, deepen self knowledge, show up as the best version of yourself in relationships, or just feel supported through the ups and downs of life.
Clinical Areas of Focus
At Whole Person Wellness, my practice areas include anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions and relationship / relational work. I work with individuals in all stages of life, and have a particular interest in working with young women from adolescence through early adulthood.
Education & Credentials
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies and Psychology from Connecticut College, and a Masters in Social Work from Boston College. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts, and also hold a Clinical Social Worker license in Pennsylvania and a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical in Maryland.
Out of Office
When I’m not working, you can find me teaching and taking hot yoga classes, reading historical fiction, going to concerts or musicals, and trying out new restaurants or recipes for dinner parties with friends.
